By Reya Gratiot Year 6
On the 29th of April, Year 6 started a course called Bikeability that taught them how to ride safely on roads.
The whole thing lasted a week with two groups taking one two hour lesson a day. Group 1 consisted of 7 pupils: James, Maximilian, Max, Maia, Reya, Sophia and Thomas. The other group (group 2) consisted of Alex, Amelie, Diiya, Francesca, Imogen and Tom.
On the first day, we cycled around Tabard Gardens getting comfortable on our bikes and learning and reviewing signals and the ABCD check: Air in the tyres, the Brakes are working, the Chain is on properly and the handles will go in the same Direction as the wheel. Our instructor (Paul) looked at what types of things we needed to work on. For the rest of the week, we worked on our skills learning lots of different things

Because there were two groups they sometimes did different things so we interviewed Diiya from group 2.
If you could rate that week from 1-10 what number would you choose?
“I would rate it an 8 because it was fun and all but unfortunately our group didn’t get to go to Burgess Park.”
Did you wish to repeat that week again?
“Yes I do because it was really fun and enjoyable but I think we should have had more time to learn”
We also spoke to Maia from group two
If you had to rate this week from 1-10 how would you rate it? “I would rate it a 9 because it was fun overall”
Which day would you say was the best?
“Thursday. We went to Burgess park and we saw the Mayor”
Both groups seemed to have some fun in that small week they did Bikeability and I’m sure later years will enjoy it too.
