During the week starting Monday 5th February, LCS took part in Children’s Mental Health week. The theme was ‘My voice matters’ which helped us think about how important our opinions and ideas are and how we are all special and unique. To celebrate we did a variety of activities including whole class doodling, dancing in mixed age groups, taking time to read and drink hot chocolate and on the Friday we dressed to express ourselves. We had quite a few superheroes, football kits and a variety of colours. During the week, we did not have our normal homework and children did activities like playing chess, baking, painting and spending time outside. The Student Council introduced a new initiative of a wellbeing drop-in that is happening three times a week at playtimes where children can go and talk to a teacher or choose to have some quieter, calmer time inside. Mental health is a topic that we talk a lot about and think is important at LCS, so this week helped us emphasise this.
