Urban flowers

Years 3 and 4 had the privilege of being involved in sowing a wildflower meadow in the Tabard Gardens Nature Area. Alan Scott, from Southwark parks team, talked us through the value of wildflower meadows in urban areas to attract pollinating insects. We have been learning all about the functions of each part of the plant and so we were able to share our knowledge with Alan too. We then spread the wildflower seeds and will be keeping a watchful eye over them as they grow this summer and will examine the insects they attract when in flower.
